Top Morning Nuggets For November
Know your VALUES. This is important because VALUES lead to BEHAVIORS. Beware of your BEHAVIORS. This is important because BEHAVIORS lead to a REPUTATION . Know your REPUTATION. This is important because your REPUTATION leads to your DESTINY. It’s that simple. Oh, and this is important because we are talking about YOUR LIFE.
Real leadership is without a doubt about serving others. It is not positionally based upon some organization chart. It’s about knowing the WHY of others; it’s knowing HOW TO LISTEN TO THE SILENCE after you speak: and it’s about LEARNING what makes others tick. It’s about seeing things through their eyes. Leadership is about understanding that you are never better than anyone else-yet someone else can have a better idea. A great leader will see the brilliance of another’s idea rather than marvel over the brilliance of their idea. And most of all, a leader knows that if something is important to you it’s important to them simply because it’s important to you. So what steps might you take to become the leader you know you can be?
As a kid, I was told that one of the most important things one can do is to commit to a thought coupled with action. Commitment was the lynchpin to success, I was told. Yes, being committed was one of those Answer Codes to success. However, what remained unsaid was just like there are 2 sides to a coin, there are 2 sides to commitment. Commitment can make good things better or even make bad things worse. So, being committed to an action or result may lead to unvarnished success or may become that disaster you feared. It’s up to you to know when you’ll need to modify, adjust and adapt that thought and action.
Accomplishment, greatness and success can all be yours. Thinking about it is nice. It’s a rather small step in the right direction. However, DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT is nothing more than a small step that morphs into a huge step in the right direction. Small steps then Huge steps. Make it happen.
Your job is to understand that each task you do can take you closer to your goal. And each task you do can take you in the opposite direction as well. Maybe it’s time to ask yourself these timely WHAT question:WHAT MUST I BE DOING BETTER? WHAT CAN I LEARN FROM THIS? WHAT DOES THE SITUATION I’M IN NOW MAKE POSSIBLE? Here’s the funny thing about life. THERE IS ALWAYS A NEXT MOVE. What will yours be?
